The Offshore Energy Database Control lines data set comprises hydraulic, electrical, chemical and optic fibre control lines and umbilicals that are employed in developing offshore oil and gas fields. The control lines and umbilicals projects range from the massive tie back systems found on Shell's Mensa project in the Gulf of Mexico, down to 1 metre flying leads tying back a subsea well back to its manifold or template.
As part of the development of the Renewables Energy Database the research team is also identifying the powerlines associated with offshore wind farms.
