Pipelines Online

Pipelines Online identifies major offshore pipeline, control line and umbilical projects for the current year and the next four years into the future.

The parameters for Pipelines Online are as follows:

The Pipelines Data Set identifies all projects of 50 Km in length and over, and projects of 16” diameter and over, and 12.5 Km in length and over.

The Control lines and Umbilicals Data Set identify all projects of 25 Km in length and over.

Project examples include exporting gas from the giant North field of Qatar/South Pars field of Iran (with its 20 phases of development) to their neighbours, schemes to link the existing infrastructures of the countries in North West Europe, for instance to bring Russian gas to the UK, and schemes in South East Asia to provide the region with gas transmission systems to bring Indonesian gas to Thailand or Malaysian gas to Vietnam for example.

The Infield Offshore Energy Database complete Pipelines Data Set comprises 30,000 projects covering all major trunklines, flowlines, infield lines, production lines, injection lines (gas, water, and nitrogen), service lines, and jumpers. It now includes risers, both steel and flexible and the massive new SCRs (Steel Catenary Risers) being installed on deepwater floating production vessels in the Gulf of Mexico, off West Africa and Brazil.

For each Pipeline project the following information is provided;
• Region
• Country
• Operator Name, address and contract details
• Pipeline Route
• Pipeline ID
• Project Status
• Pipeline Diameter (Inches)
• Pipeline Length (Metres)
• Buried, Surface or Trench Lay
• Product
• Date/Year pipeline Laid
• Pipeline Water Depth (Metres)
• Pipeline Type (Steel, Flexible, Stainless Steel)
• Pipeline Tube Type (see above)
• Pipeline Weight Coat

The types of Control lines and Umbilicals on the Offshore Energy Database are employed for;

• Communications
• Power Line
• Seismic Cable
• Telecommunications
• Umbilical
• Within Pipeline Bundle

The function of the Control lines and Umbilicals can be;

• Chemical Injection
• Electric Hydraulic
• Electric Power
• Hydraulic
• Optical Fibre
• Scale Squeeze
• Seismic
Again please note that some of these Control and Umbilical Line types may not be included as they fall outside the parameters of the defined data set

Types of pipeline systems identified on the Infield Offshore Energy Database are
;
Bundled Line: these systems comprise of several export flowlines, injection and umbilical control lines of varying configurations.
Coiled Tubing.
Flexible Catenary Risers (FCR).
Jumper: short flowline connecting a subsea well back to its manifold.
Piggy-Back: an export line from the field carrying an externally attached import injection flowline to the wellhead.
Pipe-In-Pipe: An external pipeline carrying an internal flowline. Pipe-in-Pipe systems are used for protection near the shore and for insulation in deeper waters.
Riser: Flowlines carrying the hydrocarbon flow from the seabed to the surface facility.
Steel Catenary Riser (SCR).
Single Tubular: Single, simple tube system.

Please note that not all of these types will appear on Pipelines Online as they fall outside the parameters for the data set.
The Infield Offshore Energy Database complete Control and Umbilical lines Data Set comprises over 9,200 projects. Projects include mechanical, electrical and optic fibre control lines and umbilicals. These range from the massive tie back systems found on Shell’s Mensa project in the Gulf of Mexico, down to 1 metre jumper lines tying back a subsea well back to its manifold or template.
