Gulf of Mexico Oil and Gas infrastructure and Integrity Map
New - April 2010
This wall map will provide an insight into how even modern field developments may grow to rely on an ageing infrastructure for the transportation of production. With the use of the existing infrastructure in improving development economics;reduced expenditure and faster development times, however the current network of fields and platforms could lead to consequences of product loss through ‘leakage’, increased Opex costs and transit fees, plus of course the impact in increased environmental risk. With (MMS) Government estimates of over 17bn barrels of oil remaining and over 300 future new fields in prospect opportunities still exist. 58% of active leases are now located in deepwater and the bulk of future production potential is linked with these fields, the connection between new opportunities and old infrastructure is therefore critical.
