Keppel to build new jackup worth US$195 million for Mexico

Keppel AmFELS LLC, a US wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has won a contract from Mexico's Perforadora Central SA de CV (Perforadora Central) to build a repeat jackup rig valued at about US$195 million. Slated for delivery in 1Q 2013, this latest high specification unit will be based on the LeTourneau Super 116E design. Unlike the existing LeTourneau Super 116Es, this will be the first Super 116E newbuild to be further enhanced to provide for an additional 1,500 kips of elevated load. It will have leg lengths of 511 ft and the capability to drill wells up to 30,000 ft at a water depth of 375 ft. Mexico is the world's sixth largest producer of oil and has the seventh largest natural gas reserve in the western hemisphere. PEMEX, Mexico's national oil company, has recently announced plans to invest approximately Ps. 286.3 billion (US$23.6 billion) in 2011, more than 80% of which would be allocated to exploration and production activities.

Keppel AmFELS delivers newbuild to Perforadora Central

Keppel AmFELS LLC, a wholly owned US subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has delivered the jackup rig, Coatzacoalcos, to Mexico’s Central Panuco S.A. De C.V., a subsidiary of Mexico's Perforadora Central S.V. De C.V. (Perforadora Central) on time, within budget and with zero loss time incidents. The rig was christened today at Keppel AmFELS’ yard in Brownsville, Texas by Lady Sponsor, Mrs Monica Funtanet de Alvarez-Morphy, the wife of Mr Javier Alvarez Morphy Camou Sr, Director of Perforadora Central. Coatzacoalcos is the fourth jackup rig built by Keppel AmFELS for Perforadora Central and the third based on the LeTourneau Super 116E design. The yard is currently building a fifth jackup to Keppel’s proprietary KFELS B Class design for Perforadora Central.

Uxpanapa hull successfully launched

The fifth jackup rig that Keppel AmFELS is constructing for Perforadora Central, Uxpanapa, reached a double milestone on 22 September 2015. Its hull was successfully launched into the sea and it also celebrated two million man hours worked without lost time incidents. In recognition of the yard’s achievement, PerforadoraCentral presented the project team with a plaque and safety bonus of US $30,000. Mr Ricardo Cortinas, Vice President, Offshore Drilling Operations, Central Panuco (Perforadora Central) said, “It is always very exciting to see the successful launching of a rig. Central Panuco is very pleased with the on time production schedule of Uxpanapa and would like to congratulate the dedicated employees at Keppel AmFELS for achieving two million man-hours without any lost time incidents.”

Keppel AmFELS delivers fifth jackup rig to Perforadora Central

Keppel AmFELS LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) in the U.S., has delivered Uxpanapa, a KFELS B Class jackup rig, to Mexico's Central Panuco S.A. De C.V. (Central Panuco), a subsidiary of Mexico's Perforadora Central S.V. De C.V. on time and within budget. The rig was christened yesterday at Keppel AmFELS' yard in Brownsville, Texas by the owners of Central Panuco. Uxpanapa is the the fifth jackup rig built by Keppel AmFELS for Perforadora Central and the second based on Keppel's proprietary KFELS B Class design. Mr Simon Lee, President of Keppel AmFELS, said at the ceremony, "The delivery of this fifth jackup rig to Central Panuco to their highest satisfaction is a result of our close partnership backed by the yard's strong capabilities. We are proud to be Central Panuco's choice shipyard as they grow their fleet of rigs to be a premier rig operator in the region. "As the most established shipyard in the Gulf of Mexico, we are able to understand and meet the needs of our customers. Our strong position in the gulf coupled with our execution expertise enable us to support rig owners in the region with a wide variety of solutions, including newbuilds, repairs and conversions." Uxpanapa will be chartered by PEMEX, the Mexican national oil company, for work in offshore Mexico. Keppel AmFELS' past collaboration with PEMEX includes having built two 220 Men accommodation modules for Pemex in 2006, as well as repairing and servicing a total of 18 rigs for various drilling operators that have been chartered by PEMEX over the years. Mr Patricio Alvarez Morphy Orvañanos, Senior Vice President of Central Panuco added, "We are pleased to receive the Uxpanapa, another high quality jackup rig from Keppel AmFELS on time and on budget. As a group, Keppel O&M is the leading rig provider to the Mexican market, having delivered 16 projects, including this latest rig, with another four on order for Mexico.

Perforadora Central orders another newbuild jackup rig from Keppel AmFELS

Keppel FELS has announced that its American subsidiary Keppel AmFELS won a construction contract from Perforadora Central a Mexican focused drilling company to build a new jackup drilling rig. The unit will be built to Keppel’s proven B Class jackup design with a total construction cost of US$240 million and is the second unit that Perforadora will have currently being constructed at yard, following the order of the Coatzacoalcos jackup back in April 2012. The newbuild jackup rig is expected to be delivered in Q4 2015 and once delivered it will be the fifth jackup rig built by AmFels and delivered to Perforadora since 2004.

The rig was christened today at Keppel AmFELS' yard in Brownsville, Texas by Lady Sponsor, Mrs. Gabriela Jiménez de Alvarez Morphy, wife of Mr Luis Alvarez Morphy Camou, Director of Perforadora Central. Papaloapan is the the third jackup rig built by Keppel AmFELS for Perforadora Central and is based on the LeTourneau Super 116E design. Capable of drilling wells up to 30,000 ft at a water depth of 375 ft, it is the first Super 116E newbuild to be further enhanced to provide for an additional 1,500 kips of elevated load.

AMFELS delivers jackup rig to Perforadora Central

AMFELS Inc, the US subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has delivered an ultra premium KFELS B Class jackup drilling unit, named Tonala, to Mexican Owner, Perforadora Central SA de CV. Upon the delivery of the rig, Tonala is starting a contract with Petroleos Mexicanos in the Bay of Campeche (PEMEX). Since the introduction of the KFELS B design into the market in 2000, four such rigs have been completed, with four more currently on order. This represents above 60% of the total number of similar rigs on order worldwide during the same period.

Keppel AmFELS Inc., the US wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (Keppel O&M), has delivered its first rig in 2010 to Mexico’s Perforadora Central SA de CV, safely, on time and within budget. Mr Patricio Alvarez Morphy, President of Perforadora Central, said, “Tuxpan is built to the highest standards of safety and quality under the expert project management and construction capabilities of Keppel AmFELS. We are confident that this fine rig will achieve a strong operational record when she begins work.” Tuxpan is the second jackup rig that Keppel AmFELS has built for Perforadora Central. Built to the LeTourneau Super 116E design and with leg lengths of 511ft, Tuxpan can drill wells up to 30,000ft in water depths of 375ft.
