Within the commercially released edition of the Offshore EnergyGateway, Infield Systems have made available a limited number of advertising "hot-spots", within each of the 14 Gateways as well as the sample Gateways, which are open to be viewed by anyone on the Internet. The successful promotion of the Offshore EnergyGateway is achieved by a diversified marketing campaign that includes industry exhibiting at exhibitions, attending events and conferences, distribution of wall maps, search engine placement, inclusion of EnergyGateway maps in Infield's Market Forecast Report, white paper articles, press releases and the inclusion of EnergyGateway maps within the trade press articles as well as reciprocal links from Hot-Spot sponsors and numerous other websites.
Within each Gateway up to 10 full column banners can be booked. A hot-spot advertisement can either be a static or animated file lasting no longer than 12 seconds. Full, half, third and quarter columns segments can be booked depending upon availability. Prices range from £1,000 for a quarter column banner to £3,500 for a full column banner.
Hot-Spot banners are strategically placed next to the working screen of the selected Gateway mapping image, which continually rotates with a two minute cycle, providing a high profile of the sponsor's regional presence. Each banner hot-spot has a single "click through" to the sponsor's own specified URL.
Discounts are applied to multiple Gateway hot-spot placements.
All hot-spot sponsors will receive 12 months complimentary access to the standalone Offshore EnergyGateway package that their hot-spot appears in. The standalone package includes all of the geographic layers and all Offshore Energy Database layers as reference symbols with limited information behind each one. The Offshore Energy Database layers include; fields (detailing operator, field name, type & group status), fixed platforms (operator, platform name & group status), floating production and floating storage offloading facilities (operator, platform name & group status), pipelines (operator, pipeline route, product & group status). Please note that pipelines are restricted to those projects that are associated with platforms and shore facilities and landfall.

The following file formats can be used on the Offshore EnergyGateway
GIF (Graphic Interchange Format)
The GIF (.gif) file is a very common web-friendly image file format that compresses images by limiting the number of colours used. A GIF image can contain no more than 256 colours and as few as two colours. This format is particularly well suited to images with a limited number of colours such as logos, charts, graphs, and text fields. GIFs do not suffer from compression artefacts that may alter colours or ad "noise" to your image, but a GIF file is not typically well suited to photographs. GIF images may also be animated using specialized GIF animation tools.
JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)
The JPEG (.jpg) file is another very common web-friendly image format. The JPEG file is a compressed full colour format that is most often used with photographic images. The JPEG format uses a "lossy" compression technique that can result in bleeding or inaccurate colours and "noise" in the image, but the quality of JPEG images can be adjusted when the files are created. If your image uses a lot of colour, such as photos do, the JPEG format is usually your best bet. If the number of colours is limited and accuracy is important, go with a GIF image. Unlike GIFs, JPEG files cannot be animated.
Flash
Developed by Macromedia, the Flash file combines animation and interactivity within the image space using primarily "vector" images. Flash files play through a freely available plug-in that interacts with a user's web browser. While all web browsers support GIF and JPEG files, Flash files are not natively supported; however, the vast majority of web users have the Flash plug-in installed. Flash files can provide a great deal of innovative animation and motion while maintaining a relatively small file size and a full colour palette. Flash files are particularly well suited to large ad spaces such as the 600x200 pixel EnergyGateway full column position. For flash files please allow for a 12 second display period
