The recent drilling success rate experienced by pioneer operators offshore South and East Africa has led to increased operator interest and outside investment levels, all of which makes this dynamic region an exciting prospect and one to watch.
As the industry continues to experience unprecedented demand for hydrocarbons, there is increasing pressure on oil companies to step up exploration activity in frontier regions and to enhance production from existing basins. As such, the potential significance of South and East Africa is fast appearing on the radar. Whilst South Africa is already a proven development area, the East African oil and gas sector is expected to be a key driver of incremental growth in Africa. Major oil companies already investing heavily in the region include: Anadarko, ENI, British Gas, Statoil, ExxonMobil, Total, Ophir, Apache and Tullow.
Recent E&A activity offshore South and East Africa has already met with significant success, with the discovery of deepwater gas prospects off Tanzania and Mozambique. Led by Anadarko and some of the smaller regional specialists, including: Tullow, Maurel et Prom and some of the larger IOCs, the Rovuma Basin has been confirmed as a promising gas province.
Activity and interest in this region is forecast to remain high for the foreseeable future.
Within each of the Infield Oil and Gas Activity Maps, there are a number of advertising opportunities, with single 100mm by 100mm or multiple size positions available.
The new Offshore South and East Africa Oil and Gas Activity Map to 2020 will be produced using the Offshore EnergyGateway, Infield’s online oil and gas GIS Mapping System and information from the Offshore Energy Database.
