With the ever increasing search for new discoveries of hydrocarbons, the regions of
South and East Africa are fast appearing on the radar. Indeed, South Africa’s West Coast is expected to become a major oil and gas hub for the entire sub-Saharan Africa region. However, with South Africa
already a proven development area, the East Africa oil and gas sector is
expected to be a key driver of growth in Africa. Madagascar, for example, is considered to be one of the last great frontiers in the hunt for hydrocarbons, with seismic data suggesting that there are massive offshore oil and gas deposits along all East Africa's coastline, centred largely on a fault line running from Somalia south to Madagascar. Plans are afoot to construct a liquefied natural gas export terminal, the region's first, to supply ever-rising energy demand in Asia by tanker across the Indian Ocean.
Whilst Namibia is located in South West Africa, its proximity to the South and East and its potential for falling under the same regional development makes it appropriate to include its details on the map. To date it does not have a significant history of oil or gas production, but is believed to hold a great deal of potential.
Major oil companies investing
heavily in the region include: Anadarko, ENI, British Gas, Statoil, ExxonMobil,
Total, Ophir, Cove, Apache, and Tullow - Activity and interest in this region
is high and this new Infield regional activity map will reflect all of the development interest, and much more, for this fast developing region.
Within each of the Infield Oil and Gas Activity Maps, there are a number of advertising opportunities, with single 100mm by 100mm or multiple size positions available.
The new Offshore South and East Africa Oil and Gas Activity Map to 2020 will be produced using the Offshore EnergyGateway, Infield’s online oil and gas GIS Mapping System and information from the Offshore Energy Database. The commentary is based on information provided from Infield's unique and proprietary OFFPEX Market Modelling and Forecast System. OFFPEX is the only complete 'bottom-up' model of the offshore industry available today.
The base map will feature a complete regional overview, showing the current operational status of the Offshore South and East Africa region, including operational oil and gas fields, platforms and pipelines. The map will also include detailed map insets featuring the major producing areas with all up-coming offshore oil and gas fields, platforms and pipelines being planned or considered through to 2020.
